Thesp's credits include 'To Have and Have Not,' 'The Rifleman'

Character actor Lance Fuller, whose career began during the 1940s, died Dec. 22 of a heart attack in Los Angeles. He was 73.

Know for his handsome features, native of Somerset, Ky., came to Hollywood toward the end of World War II and later tested at MGM for a role in “The Yearling.” He had a bit part in “Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman” and later with Hoagy Carmichael in the Humphrey Bogart starrer “To Have and Have Not.” He was briefly married to actress-model Joy Lansing.

During the early 1950s he was under contract to Universal where he had roles in films such as 1954’s “Magnificent Obsession.” Additional feature credits included “Cattle Queen of Montana” (1954), “Pearl of the South Pacific” (1955), “The She-Creature” (1956), “Girls in Prison” (1956), “Voodoo Woman” (1957) and “The Bride and the Beast” (1958).

Popular on Variety

During the late 1950s, he appeared on a number of TV series including “The Rifleman,” “Maverick,” “Bat Masterson” and “The Twilight Zone.”

He retired in the early 1980s.

Contributions in his name be made to the Actors Fund.
