Wayne and Coleen Rooney have welcomed their second child.

The footballer confirmed that his wife had given birth to a new baby boy in the early hours of this morning.

The pair named their son Klay Anthony Rooney.

Wayne Rooney tweeted: "Our Beautiful Son Klay Anthony Rooney was born at 2.11am, Weighing 7Ib 11.1/2 oz. Both Klay and Coleen are fine..... We're all delighted!![sic]"

Coleen tweeted later on: "At 2.11am our Beautiful Son .... Klay Anthony Rooney entered the world. He weighed 7Ib 11.1/2 oz We're all so happy and doing well. X"

The announcement was greeted with a wave of congratulations on Twitter, including Alan Sugar and Ed Sheeran.

Klay joins his brother Kai, who was born in November 2009.

The couple confirmed that they were expecting baby number two in December last year. Coleen's brother Anthony, who could be the inspiration behind the child's last name, shared a scan of the baby on Instagram at the end of 2012.
